In the 10 years since its inception, the Dark Is Beautiful campaign has gained international recognition and garnered support from celebrities and recognition and mention in various major media publications in India and around the world.
2019 is going to be a time to celebrate and a time to renew our dedication to our mission of fighting against colourism. Our theme this year and going forward is, Colourism Ends With Me.
Many of us are not just victims of colourism, but perpetrators of this unconscious bias as well. Change doesn’t come through force, but rather through influence. What if every person took a stand to stop colourism in their own lives, and in doing so became influencers?
Mahatma Gandhi said it best, “Be the change that you want to see in the world.”
The Dark Is Beautiful team is thrilled to invite you to join in the celebrations. Our first decade was a success and we couldn’t have done it without you. We invite you to join hands with us as benefactors, volunteers, and dedicated partners so we can make the next 10 years count.
India’s Got Colour – A New Anthem
To celebrate 10 years of the Dark Is Beautiful campaign, we are thrilled to present and promote Nandita Das’s new brave expression: India’s got colour.
She has garnered the support of actors, directors, musicians, singers, dancers, designers and other creative artists and philanthropists. To name a few, some well-known names in the film industry like Radhika Apte, Ratna Pathak Shah, Suchitra Pillai, Swara Bhaskar, Tillotama Shome, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Ali Fazal and Vikrant Massey, and Sangita Jindal of the JSW Group who supported with funding. The anthem is co-produced by Mahesh Mathai with music by Ankur Tewari.
